The North American Poker Tour (NAPT) launched in January 2010 and ran for one season before being suspended midway through its second season. Over the course of its short existence, it had six stops in the Bahamas, Las Vegas, Connecticut and Los Angeles.
The NAPT was shut down in April 2011 after the NAPT's affiliated website, Pokerstars.com, was seized and shut down by U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.

After launching in 2010, PokerStars aimed to match the WSOP Circuit and World Poker Tour with the North American Poker Tour, matching the model that had been successful in Europe, Asia and Latin America.

Before its suspension, Vanessa Selbst took down NAPT Mohegan Sun for the second time in two years, becoming the only two-time NAPT champion.
